Why blog?

I haven't blogged in over a week.

Not that I haven't started writing a few on many different topics. I just haven't been inspired enough to finish any of them.

I've been reading alot of blogs though. Mommie blogs, healthy eating blogs, homeschooling blogs (no, I don't home school and have no intention of doing so but there are alot of great craft ideas and learning ideas from those blogs).

Some blogs seem to be one big advertisement after another. More reviews on products than anything else. I get that. We all need money and blogging can be a great source of revenue. Doesn't always make for the most interesting read though. But does that matter?

And some blogger's get some of the meanest comments posted for the silliest things-I don't know how they continue writing quite honestly. I am not thick-skinned enough to deal with that (the BIG reason why I moderate the comments on my blog).

Anyway, this has got me thinking this past week, why DO I blog? What is my motivation for blogging and what do I hope to achieve, if anything, from it? Who am I writing for? And do I need to be on a scheduled timetable to be a successful blogger or can I just write when the inspiration feels right? Will people continue to read and follow me if I'm not writing daily? Or does it even matter if no one but me reads this?

So my question, fellow blog friends, is this:

Why do YOU blog?

  1. I'm going to answer the questions you're asking yourself ... but for me lol.

    1. Why do I blog?
    - I blog because I want to. Because I enjoy writing about my kids and my family. I enjoy being able to look back on my posts and remember things (I have a very crappy memory and can't remember a lot of things in my past).

    2. What is my motivation for Blogging and what do I hope to achieve, if anything, from it?
    - I don't really have a motivation to do it. I do it when I want to and I don't feel an ounce of guilt when I don't lol. As for what I hope to achieve ... just some time for me. For me to sit and write and get my thoughts out on "paper".

    3. Who am I writing for?
    - Me. Me me me me me. I don't write for anyone other than me. If other people read, awesome. If people comment, wonderful. But in the end, this is for me.

    4. Do I need to be on a scheduled timetable to be a successful blogger?
    - Nope. I don't think you have to. One of my favourite bloggers does not post daily. Sometimes she does, but she has three boys (two of which have hearing problems and one who has anxiety problems - so blogging is not a priority). I think she's a very successful blogger!

    5. Will people continue to read and follow me if I'm not writing daily?
    - That's a question I can't answer. I know for me, because I write for me, in the end it doesn't matter. Another fav blogger of mine posts every day, without fail. And there are still times that I don't comment. I read it though, but sometimes I just don't have a comment to share. If that makes sense.

    6. Does it even matter if no one but me reads it?
    - In my opinion; no. It only matters if YOU read your blog. I know many people will disagree with this but blogging isn't about the endless advertisements and countless reviews (though they can be nice to see).

  2. I started blogging so that when I rambled on and on about running I couldn't see the person's eyes glaze over ;0)
