Granted, both my husband and I have less time to enjoy a good book these days. I'm usually scrambling at the last minute to finish my book for book club (and doing so before club night can be a rare occurance) while my husband is usually reading late at night as he tends to just be too busy during the day.
That being said, reading is important and we have tried to encourage that same love of books in our son.
And, as you can see, it seems to be working :)

He adores his books! Many of them are well loved, and well used. And he never tires of reading them, though mommy and daddy would appreciate a different story once in a while-there are only so many time you can read The Goodnight Train, you know? :)
He also enjoys reading them to himself. He goes through the pages one by one, looking at each picture and loving the story just as much as he did the first time he read the book. And there isn't a place where you can't read.

And sometimes, just like mommy, he falls asleep before the book is finished :)
I'm so happy that he loves his books as much as we do!Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.(1994)

I would be horrified if he wasn't a reader. Look at all those who surround him who love to read.
ReplyDeletePS: I have only read the introduction to our current book club book....so many other things to do instead.
Love!!!!!! I love you guys and miss you all so much!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so important that they are exposed to reading early!! Good job, Mama!! My husband and I were talking about how sad it is that our parents never cared whether we read or not. I ended up having my own love for books, my husband not so much. But our kids LOVE to read.... and I love it!
ReplyDeleteSweet, he can probably tell you some of the words already in Goodnight Train. My mom read to us faithfully and I was reading very young and haven't stopped!
